Hypnotherapy combines psychotherapy (talking therapy) and hypnosis to get the very best out of our sessions. It is a known as a brief therapy and generally most clients will see an improvement within 8 - 12 sessions.
The talking therapy is all centered around supporting you to recognise the positives in your life. I will support you to create new positive habits and give you the time and encouragement to help you find your own solutions.
Hypnosis is when we enter a relaxed state of mind and can access our subconscious mind. We go into and out of hypnosis very often, for example, when we are watching TV, at the gym and driving a familiar route. It's natural and self induced. It's a key part of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy as 95% of our thoughts and behaviours come from our subconscious mind.
During hypnosis I will use repetition, suggestions and metaphors to encourage your subconscious mind to think and act in a positive, problem solving manner.
-What if I snore?
Great! You're showing me you're relaxed and I can still talk to your subconscious mind.
-Do I have to lie down and/or close my eyes?
No. If you feel more comfortable sitting then that is fine. As long as you are comfortable and not in danger of falling off. You can have your eyes open or closed, whatever makes you feel more relaxed.
-Will I speak during hypnosis?
It's very unusual to speak during hypnosis as your brain is busy processing information. However, if you did, remember the therapy room is a confidential safe space.
